The Office of President of European Council on Tourism and Trade release a special communique on the occasion of the successful closing of COP21 Paris Climate Conference.

Professor Dr. Anton Caragea, Council President statement is presenting an encouragement declaration, marking the importance of the event for world tourism and for world natural protected areas and natural parks.

Here is the full text:

It gives me a special pleasure to greet the results of the Paris Climate Conference COP21.

The Paris Agreement has succeed in providing the framework for accelerating the global transition to low-carbon climate –resilient economies. As the SG of United Nations Mr. Ban Ki-moon rightly stated "We are the first generation that can end poverty. We are also the last generation that can slow global warming before it is too late."

We should not miss this opportunity.

The Paris conference was a historic opportunity to accelerate the shift to a low carbon, climate-resilient global economy.

People around the world are looking to their leaders for a signal that they are ready and willing to take decisive action to tackle climate change.

I launch an appeal  to those that support a strong Paris deal to take every opportunity to speak out and make their position clear.

Now, of extremly importance is the role to be played by the Civil society in raising awareness among the public and putting pressure on governments to show leadership and to ask for accountability rules to give stakeholders confidence that countries will deliver on their commitments.
 As well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the new agreement is also addresing adaptation to the impacts of climate change and the mobilisation of finance for climate action from a variety of public and private sources.

The climate action plans – the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions – submitted so far bend the global emissions curve downward, but there is still much effort demanded and as soon as possible.

The transformation of the world’s energy systems is crucial for world natural protected areas and natural parks by this avoiding the worst consequences of climate change and setting the world on a sustainable development pathway.

It os our shared duty as representatives of the people and humanity to foster the transformation of world energy systems in to cleaner, lower-carbon sources, and to ensure the decarbonization of the world’s energy systems by the end of the century.

Your efforts after the COP21 will manifest themself by  implementing the recently adopted
 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

European Council on Tourism and Trade has saluted this  agenda as a roadmap to end global poverty – including energy poverty – and to help build a life of dignity for all.

This is our committment and obligation for the generations to come.

The
17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that we are supporting are reflecting the importance of sustainable energy for societies, economies and human world.
SDG 17 are calling to “ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all” by 2030.

The Agenda that
European Council on Tourism and Trade works to promote, recognizes the close links between energy and the other SDGs, including the goal on climate change.

I salute your exertions to build a safer, more equitable and prosperous future for all.

Please accept my best wishes for a successful implementation of the decision taken by Paris COP21 conference.

EUROPEAN COUNCIL ON TOURISM AND TRADE CELEBRATES UNITED NATIONS DAY

12/14/2015

Picture

The European Council on Tourism and Trade  salutes the 70 years anniversary since the United Nations Organization Charter was signed in San Francisco on 26 June 1945, this being a fundamental, seminal document for the political organization of international relations after the tragic experience of the Second World War.

Despite the huge challenges and multiple transformations that the international community has gone through during these past 7 decades, the UN Charter proved to be a flexible and visionary document, dedicated to maintaining peace and preventing a new world war.

“During the 70 years, the relevance of the UN Charter was highlighted by geopolitical changes in international relations.

However, the conditions imposed by the dynamics of decolonization, by the Cold War implications and by economic globalization proved the value of this founding document, as it has helped promote human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
The evolution in the number of UN members – from 51 founding members to 193 today – speaks for itself about the topicality and importance of the Charter, which allowed the
UN to strengthen its universal vocation and its legitimacy on the three action pillars: international peace and security, development and human rights and its status as the most comprehensive international cooperation organization and the main source of international law,” stated European Council on Tourism and Trade  President Office in his statement.
Celebrating 70 years since the signing of the UN Charter provides the European Council on Tourism and Trade the opportunity to reiterate Europe’s commitment – to the goals and values of the world organization and its constant respect for the actions of institutions in the UN system, as the main global cooperation framework between topics of international law and the codification of international law rules

The UN Charter is not solely the result of multilateral deliberations and negotiations at the Peace Conference in San Francisco in 1945. Its adoption was the result of a long development process, held for most of the war, spurred by the Allies’ political vision of the UN, as they envisaged as a fundamental instrument of postwar order that would take into account the successful experiences and failures of the Society of Nations, the new geostrategic configurations and, especially, the all the values of the Western civilization, values which had so deeply been disturbed by the war.

The Joint Statement of the US President and the Prime Minister of Great Britain, signed on 14 August 1941, and known as the “Atlantic Charter”, had already established a set of basic principles that would be reflected in the forthcoming UN Charter, including collective security, the mechanisms of peaceful settlement of disputes and the economic and social cooperation framework.

Even then, these principles manifested their force of attraction for countries on all continents, as countries rallied to the Allies’ common cause, and served to isolate the aggressor states and fascist ideology. On 1 January 1942 the United Nations Declaration, signed in Washington by the 26 belligerent powers, was an official statement of support for the future UN Charter. Subsequently, 21 other states signed the Declaration, forming the configuration of the founding members of the world organization.

Then the Joint Four-Nation Declaration followed, signed in Moscow in October 1943 by the governments of the United States, Great Britain, the Soviet Union and China, this being the first document whereby signatories recognize “the need to create as soon as possible in practical terms a general international organization, based on the principle of sovereign equality of all peace-loving states, open to all these countries, large or small, to maintain international peace and security.”

During 1944, in Dumbarton Oaks, Washington, following this formal commitment, the representatives of the four major Allied powers prepared a set of Proposals on the creation of General International Organization. These included most of the provisions necessary for the proper functioning of the future organization, except for the voting procedures in the Security Council.

At the Yalta Conference in February 1945, the leaders of the US, Great Britain and the Soviet Union agreed on settling the remaining divergences and assembled the United Nations Conference in San Francisco. The Conference in San Francisco began on 25 April 1945, the negotiations leading to the completion of the draft Charter on 25 June, and to its signing by delegates from 50 states on 26 June 1945. The UN Charter entered into force on 24 October 1945, this being considered official United Nations Day.

Your Excellencies, ladies and gentlemen, dear friends,

We are here to award to H.E. Hailemariam Desalegn, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia the title of Honorary Member of European Tourism Academy.

Analyzing the curriculum vitae along with the activity of the Prime Minister Hailemariam we discover a complex person, a man of many talents, entirely dedicated to the development of his country, to the well being of the people of Ethiopia, dedicated to building a favorable image of Ethiopia in the midst of the international community.

His bachelor's degree in civil engineering, from Addis Ababa University, was fundamental for building a solid scientific education, giving him access to a high level knowledge and expertise.

The master degree, with Tampere University of Technology in Finland, gave him an European and international perspective upon the transfer of knowledge, expertise and technology.
Upon his return to Ethiopia, he served in different academic and administrative capacities, including the dean of the Water Technology Institute, for 13 years.

H.E. Hailemariam Desalegn loves his country and the people of Ethiopia. He learned how important the water resources are for a country, how important the expert management of such a vital resource is for the well being and the successful development of Ethiopia.
But for him it was not enough. He wanted more…He wanted to acquire knowledge of scientific management of the country, of its human resources and natural resources as well.
And he acquired all this, earning a MA in Organizational Leadership in California, from the best…

We will not analyze here the political activity of H.E. Hailemariam Desalegn, but taking actively part in the political life of his country, it gave him the opportunity to work with people of Ethiopia, to be in the middle of Ethiopia’s people, to efficiently communicate, and being able to implement at the high level management of the country activities, reflecting the reality of Ethiopia and the wishes of Ethiopian people.

His activity as Minister of foreign affairs was indeed a success. As a diplomat he presented to the world the image of a peaceful country, of many resources and beauties, with people that praise hospitality, open in a friendly manner to the international community.

There is no wonder that with all these credentials H.E. was able to excellently perform as Prime Minister, running an activity at the top level, for the benefit of Ethiopia and Ethiopian people.
In the country’s general framework, tourism is a complex activity, and H.E. understood that tourism is not only for tourists to enjoy the natural beauties and the cultural heritage of Ethiopia. Tourism is for also the people of Ethiopia, is for the development of the local communities, so that everyone will be able to enjoy all that a beautiful and resourceful country may offer.

As a final remark, H.E. working for many years at the highest level of the African Union, was able to have a general overview, as well as a personal contribution, to the most important African institution, bringing together people and countries, managing the trend for ever growing development and international recognition of the African continent.

In recognition of his contribution to the development of Ethiopian tourism, we are proud to hand over The Medal Of Honor to his Excellency Hailemariam, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and to recognize him as the newest academician member of the European Tourism Academy.

EUROPEAN COUNCIL ON TOURISM AND TRADE VISIT ON THE SILK ROAD ON PHOTO ALBUM

5/5/2015

Silk Road has always being the destination of choice for luxury and culture oriented tourists and a fabulous journey thru time and spaces.

Between 20 to 29 April 2015 a European Council on Tourism and Trade (ECTT) high level mission has toured Kazakhstan, in order to help transforming the heart of Central Asia, as Kazakhstan is better known, in the new Frontier of Silk Road experiences.

REDISCOVERING SILK ROAD-A NEW MISSION FOR EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF TOURISM AND TRADE

4/21/2015

Picture
H.E. Tajikistan President- Emomali Rahmon and European Council on Tourism and Trade President Professor Dr. Anton Caragea are creating the tourism project of Silk Road

European Journal of Tourism and Trade editorial team will be joining European Council on Tourism and Trade high level delegation on a familiarization trip along the Silk Road.

As a common knowledge European Council on Tourism and Trade (ECTT) is one of the pivotal organizations involved in the re-birth of TOURISM ON SILK ROAD. A STRATEGY FOR XXI CENTURY.

This strategy was launched in 2010, during Professor Dr. Anton Caragea- ECTT President discussions with Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and in 2011 with Tajikistan President-Emomali Rahmon and will be given a new impetus during European Council on Tourism and Trade trip on the SILK ROAD.The trip will start from Almaty and will continue to Shymkent, Taraz, Turkistan-Sauran and Kyzylorda during 20 to 29 April 2015. The Great Silk Road is rightly considered to be one of the remarkable achievements of the medieval civilizations.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proclaimed as a new world tourism leader by ECTT President-Professor Dr. Anton Caragea

Picture
It succeeded connecting countries and nations from the Mediterranean Sea to the Pacific Ocean and brings together material, art and spiritual cultures.

This ancient Silk Road should become the backbone of tourism and travel industry of the region and have a powerful attraction that can lure world tourists and bring together handicrafts, technologies, ideas and beliefs.

Historical Landmarks on the Silk Road to be visited by ECTT

Among the historical landmarks on the Great Silk Road are such cities as the ancient city of Mary-Merv, located in Turkmenistan and called by Arab historians the “father of the cities”, the majestic construction of Emir Timur epoch – the mausoleum of Hodja Ahmad Yassavi in the Kazakhstan historic town of Turkestan.

The Great Silk Road however is not only the network of caravan trails and a number of cities and towns which used to be stopping places for traders.

It is also a magnificent scenery: mountain peaks and alpine meadows of the Tien-Shan and the Pamir’s, sandy deserts intersected by a unique handmade construction – the Karakum Canal, glittering waters of Lake Issyk-Kul and relic pine forests of Borovoye, skiing resorts of Chimgan and Beldersay, picturesque Charvak water reservoir and a number of other notable places to visit.

Those who fancy extreme tourism could try their strengths by mountaineering, down-stream boating or rafting on the rapid mountain rivers, or, just as ancient pilgrims did, to make a horseback riding or even more exotic camel riding along desert dunes.

                                                            On The Silk Road Today

Great Silk Road undoubtedly one of the most attractive tourist routes of the world of today.

It is much due to the revival of the Great Silk Road that the mankind has access to the global heritage of different nations that for thousands of years lived along this great transcontinental arterial road and that formed and matured their varied cultural wealth.

European Council on Tourism and Trade had started with the help of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan from 2010 onwards to carve out a long-term tourist project aimed at the promotion of tourism in this region.

Turkistan-the heart of Silk Road Project

Picture
Great Silk Road deserves   to be the center of attention,
                                            states Professor Dr. Anton Caragea

The Great Silk Road has not succeeded in penetrating the mass conscience of tourism because was carved out as an inter-nation project where a traveler is under the stress of visiting several countries. The revolutionary European Council on Tourism and Trade strategy is to market each country as a part of Silk Road adventure and to offer the experience each country at a time, giving tourists the time opportunity to learn about the past and the present of these countries.

All of the landmarks along the route like many other historic monuments are major tourist attractions and should be visited by travelers all the year round. Also should be promoted the fact that some of the countries of the region relay strides to offer high-class services for tourists offering developed infrastructure and comfortable hotels. This country should be promoted and presented as offering the full experience of SILK ROAD IN XXI CENTURY.

The visit of European Council on Tourism and Trade delegation from 20 to 29 April 2015 will offer to Kazakhstan the status of the homeland and main stop over on Silk Road re-birth strategy and together with Turkmenistan resurgence as a touristic hub will create a perfect strategy for Silk Road development.
